I live in a very expensive house, so I purchased an Asko dishwasher for $800. The dishwasher is now 12 years old, but I have grown tired replacing the same part many, many times. The on off switch doesn’t last more than a year. In fact, in the last 2 1/2 years, it broke four times. Apparently, the part was not designed and built properly.
I have a GE service plan so it doesn’t cost me anything, but it takes three to four weeks to get it fixed because they have to come out to the house to see what the problem is; order the part; and come back to replace it. I decided to call Asko to ask them to send me a spare switch so the repair company could come out here each time and replace it immediately. Then after replacing my part, they could order a new one.
When I called the Asko parts department, I was told that I have to call customer service at Asko, but because it’s an inexpensive part they will probably just sent me one. When I called customer service, they refused to send me a new switch because it’s out of warranty. They said that they could not make an exception. I expressed my view that they should take good care of their customers and make an exception because I purchased an expensive dishwasher. They couldn’t see my viewpoint and declined to help me, even after I told them that I would write about it on my website.

I have dealt with other companies that will immediately send out another part. Obviously, Asko is not one of these companies. In fact, I have several businesses and a law practice and I always take care of my customers and clients. When they have a complaint, I take care of it.
At the price I paid for this dishwasher, I would expect better service. Consequently, I will not buy their products again and I don’t recommend Asko.
