If you need your diamond repaired, the best diamond cutter is Alex Franckel, my father. Of course, I’m biased! At you can also see some interesting diamonds including the 14th largest diamond in the world and a diamond that glows in the dark.

Asko Dishwashers, Washers & Dryers -update

Submitted by One Comment

After I wrote my last post about my experience with my Asko dishwasher, I was immediately contacted by Brittany Musacchio who wrote:
Phil – I ran across your post regarding ASKO dishwashers. Can you please tell me what model you are having this issue with, as well as the year installed. I would like to help change your perception of ASKO customer service.
ASKO Public Relations Coordinator

I sent her the information and my address, but it is now three months later and I still have not received the part.

Additionally, I also asked her for a dish rack wheel which was missing from the Asko dishwasher when it was delivered.  Some time after purchasing the dishwasher (it could’ve been a year or two) I called Asko to request a new plastic wheel.  Instead of offering to send me one for free, they wanted to sell me 10 of them for $17.48.

It doesn’t matter if it’s 15 years later.  It’s a very small plastic part which can’t possibly cost them more than five cents.  Companies like Moen or American Standard are more than happy to send a faucet repair kit for free.  These repair kits have more parts and are more expensive to manufacture than one plastic wheel.  Additionally, of faucets range in price from $35-$75 while the Asko dishwasher is approximately $1,500.

Service is an important part of quality.  I cannot say that I’ve received good service from Asko and while they wanted to change my mind, they apparently forgot about me.  Hopefully articles like this on the Internet will make companies produce better products and provide better service.

I am a kitchen designer and have specified many high-end products including Asko. I cannot remember any of my clients ever complaining about this appliance. I also own an Asko dishwasher and washer and dryer. I've owned them nearly 25 years now and only once the washer burned out the circuit board which was within the warranty period. It was promptly replaced by Asko at no charge, of course.

Since that one time, I have never had an issue or a failure of any of my Asko appliances. I find that they are well-made and well-designed.

I see many gripes here on these blogs but these are few and far between. The majority of us are pleased with our Asko's and their continued performance.

I felt I should share my personal experience both for myself and for my clients.
