Trying to decide which cell phone service to use?

October 30, 2007 by philesq Leave a Comment

PhilsBest pick is Verizon. I use my cell phone for both personal use and business. Since I use my cell phone for business use, I need a reliable phone and reliable service. I need to know that I can make and receive calls everywhere, without getting disconnected. Customer service isn’t much of an issue. If I don’t have any problems, I don’t need customer service.

When I talk to my friends who have AT&T, we get disconnected multiple times during the same conversation. It’s extremely annoying to me. Unbelievably, my friends seem to be oblivious to the disconnects and claim that it rarely happens (except when they’re talking to me). Although one of them has finally switched to Verizon. I have had Verizon for about seven years and never have dropped calls. I have good coverage everywhere and customer service, which I call once every two years, is very good. With business calls, I can not deal with dropped calls. With non-business calls, it would just drive me crazy.

When I got my first cellphone with Sprint, Verizon was much more expensive. That’s the reason I originally signed up with Sprint. Sprint worked well in most areas, but at the time there were numerous dead spots on Long Island. When I took my Sprint phone to Florida at that time, it worked well everywhere in the Miami area. But, because of the dead spots on Long Island I had to switch to Verizon. Now, there is a small price difference, if any, and my choice is clearly Verizon. My second choice is Sprint (only because I’m already with Verizon and have no reason to change-Sprint may work just as well today) and my last choice would be AT&T.

Verizon never seems to have the newest phones, but I’m so technologically advanced at home and in the office that I would rather not be when I’m outside. I don’t want to receive text messages. When I’m out, if it’s not important I don’t want to know about it. If it’s important, they can call me. My friends who use text messaging are getting messages every minute or two. It’s extremely annoying for me when their phone is ringing every other minute. I can’t imagine my own phone doing that. In fact, I turned off text messaging on my phone. I still use a “normal” cell phone, the Motorola E815 and I’m very happy with it.
